When Scot came up with the idea to do DreamForge Magazine, Jane knew that it had to be an illustrated magazine. She fondly remembered Realms of Fantasy and the lush illustrations. So if Jane was going to be involved, it had to be an 8.5 x 11” glossy, colorful magazine – no digest size newsprint!
For the first two years, we worked with a number of talented illustrators like John Blumen, Cassadra Bolan, Elizabeth Leggett, Frank Schurter, and more. After Covid hit us hard, we just don’t have the budget for outside illustrators. Still Jane was determined that every article, every poem, and every story would have it’s own illustration, look and feel.
Jane attended the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and Point Park College in the 80s, studying graphic design and visual communications. She worked for almost 10 years in computer games and followed that with 30 years of graphic design and web design.
Jane has worked in Photoshop since the 90s when she worked at DreamForge Intertainment. Her background is more in graphic design than illustration. Most of her illustrations are done using stock images pieced together in Photoshop with special effects and filters. More recently she’s also worked in Procreate on the ipad. She’ll mix and match different styles to come up with something that’s right for each story.
She also enjoys designing “logo type” for the stories. Here are some examples of her work. You can see more on the art gallery page.
