Tentative Dates for 2023

Mar 5 | Apr 2 | May 7 | June 4 | July 9 | Aug 6 | Sept TBD | Oct 8 | Nov 5 | Dec 3

David Hankins was interviewed on TROI, February 17th, 2023. TROI Podcast’s mission is to promote, educate, inspire and entertain creators of all things related to fantasy and science fiction. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fk42AiLKYdU  Fantastic job, David!

Later This month in DreamForge Anvil, David Hankins presents his next story:

“Another Day on the Orbital Ranch.”

Crystal Crawford did an interview with Scot on the Kindle Vella program, which is going to become several segments on The DreamForge Channel. First episode later this month!

Later this month in DreamForge Anvil, Steph Troeth has an expertly researched article on Solarpunk in our March issue under the pseudonym Ana Sun. This article is a true resource for the field in understanding the origins, themes, and meaning of solarpunk. Read and share, please!

Welcome Alan Bailey of the Podcast “If This Goes On (Don’t Panic)!”

Alan Bailey is the host of the Pittsburgh based podcast “If This Goes On (Don’t Panic)!” Alan’s podcast focuses on the Hopepunk movement.

If this Goes On (Don’t Panic)! explores how narrative helps people to envision and achieve a better future. According to Alan “We talk to writers, editors, activists, gamers, and anyone else who helps us imagine those worlds. We consider our podcast to be linked thematically with HopePunk. Our interpretation of HopePunk takes a stance of hope through resistance to the current norms. Emphasis on the PUNK. Any given podcast discussion can range from a specific novel or story, to a guest’s career, politics, religion, music, writing tips, and more. Guests often include editors, traditionally published writers, and Indie writers.  Alan’s co-hosts include Cat Rambo, Diane Morrison, and Rachel Renee.

Alan will talk to us about Hopepunk and what he has learned from doing the podcast that makes him hopeful or not about various aspects of our future.

Now that many of you are getting your work published, let’s learn about writers talking to podcasters. We’ll ask Alan what makes for a good interview; how should writers be prepared? How can they support the host and make things engaging?

And, if any of you have an interest in starting and managing a podcast, you can ask about that too.

Giveaway This Month!

One lucky attendee chosen at random will receive a copy of David Gerrold’s new resource: “Worlds of Wonder: On Writing Science Fiction & Fantasy.” It just came out in February. David Gerrold, award-winning screenwriter and novelist, gives advice for would-be science fiction and fantasy writers, covering such topics as setting, plot, character, and dialogue, as well as the mechanics of grammar, tense, sentence structure, and paragraph transition… and why the heck you’re writing at all.

In April

Our Next DreamCasters Meeting will be on April 2nd.  In April, several of our DreamForge First Line Readers will be joining us so that writers and FLRs can talk about what they see in stories, what impresses them when reading a story. Find out how to make one of our readers an evangelist for your story.
