Coming of Age 2150

Coming of Age 2150 By Mary Soon Lee
At age eighteen,

rising like phoenixes from the ash

of their birth bodies,

each new adult reincarnates

to their own desire.

Princesses turn into princes,

princes into princesses,

tomboys into tomcats:

furred, tailed, cyborg,

not quite human.

Senescence erased,

standing on the shore of lives

stretching to unknown horizons,

they will resurrect the future

their ancestors destroyed.

When they have seeded

the solar system

with mammoths, dodos,

penguins, polar bears,

they will claim the stars.
